FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

I am direct and compassionate. I tend to see patterns quickly, and I'll share what I notice openly, so you understand what we're working with and why.
Most of our work is done through Deep Brain Reorienting. Each session, we work with a moment of distress at the level where it first took hold, before it became a story or symptom. The work is calm and steady. Mostly, there are feelings moving through the body, and recognitions that arise on their own. You don't have to talk everything through or work hard to change. Your part is to show up and be present.
Over time, the work builds on itself. Old reactions soften. Difficult events feel more manageable. Many people find themselves more anchored, clearer about what they want, and more able to be themselves in their lives and relationships.
Some people come to set down what they have been carrying. Others come to step into who they are becoming. Often it is both. Wherever you begin, we'll go at the pace that fits you.

Individual session fees are $235. I am an out-of-pocket practitioner and am not contracted with insurance. I do provide out of network billing for clients, so that you don’t have to worry about filing claims.

Therapy is a space to work with what has been shaping your life from underneath: the reactions, patterns, and feelings that keep returning no matter how well you understand them.
Many people come with anxiety, depression, trauma, or difficulty in relationships. Others come with a sense that there is more of themselves to live than what they are living now. Both are reasons to begin.
In my practice, therapy works mainly through Deep Brain Reorienting. Rather than only talking about what happened, we work with the layer where distress first took hold, before it became a story or symptom. As that layer releases, the patterns built on top of it begin to loosen, and change happens more naturally than through effort alone.
Sessions are 45 minutes and held virtually. Some people come weekly, others more or less often. We'll decide together what rhythm best supports you.

The first session is where the work begins. You don't need to prepare anything or tell your whole history. I'll ask questions as we go, and I'll continue learning who you are over time.
We'll talk about what brings you here and what you're hoping will change. When it feels right, we'll choose a moment of distress to work with. That might be a recent reaction, a familiar feeling, or a pattern that keeps returning. We'll ground in present awareness, then gently return to that moment and stay with what you notice in your body and experience, rather than the story.
You won't be asked to relive anything or go further than feels manageable. If the intensity rises, we slow down. You are coming for change, and I want to meet that from the start.

Sometimes the sign is quiet: a pattern that keeps repeating, a reaction that feels bigger than the moment, or an ache that returns no matter how much you understand about it.
Some people come because something is clearly wrong: anxiety, depression, numbness, grief, or a relationship that keeps hurting in the same way.
Others come because nothing is wrong exactly, yet life feels smaller than it should, or they sense there is more of themselves they haven't been able to reach.
If you find yourself stuck in a place you've already looked at from every angle, that is often the moment this work can help. A free consultation is a simple way to see whether it's a fit.

It depends on what you're coming for. Some people work with me for a few months to address something specific and find that is what they need. Others stay for years, because as old patterns release, new layers of themselves become available to explore.
Many people who come for symptom relief find that once the weight lifts, they want to keep going, not because something is wrong, but because something new is opening.
We'll check in together along the way about what's working and what you want next. The pace and length are always yours to choose.

Deep Brain Reorienting is a trauma therapy created by Scottish psychiatrist Frank Corrigan. When something overwhelming happens, the deepest parts of the brain react in an instant, before thought or emotion can catch up. Those reactions accumulate in our brainstem and can drive anxiety, reactivity, loss of purpose, and patterns we can't seem to change. DBR allows for an unwinding of those deep layers, giving more space and freedom for us to become ourselves.

Yes, DBR works well online. The work happens through your own attention to what you notice in your body and your experience, and it is guided by my voice, so it doesn't depend on being in the same room. Many people find it easier to settle into the work from home.

No, in DBR, we don't have to talk through what happened. You bring a moment of distress to mind, and we stay with what you notice in your body and in your experience, rather than the story. You only share as much as you want to. Some people find relief in not having to explain or tell aspects of their story.
